    New boots

Most german and austrian makers have similar models. I.e. traditional alpine walking boots. Some are heavier than others though, meindl perfekt are made for fixed crampons etc. What I wonder if it's a genuine norweigan welt or if it's a mock-up? Anybody know? Compared to the glue jobs that are...

Leather stitching needles needed, help please!

I agree that john james needles are second to none. However, when I made a few pairs of boots a few years ago I used bristles instead of needles. After getting over that awkward step of learning how to 'thread' them I could sew using smaller holes which is to my eyes more neat. Although in...

    How to celebrate 10 years?

I don't have so much kit actually. Haven't bought anything the last 5-6 years, only made stuff myself. Which is sort of the whole idea I guess. :)

    Industrial sewing machines? Confused

I started out in heavy sewing, am a coatmaker by trade now. And I can assure you I've never ever met a woman machinist in either heavy sewing or bespoke tailoring. But I always get some jokes about sewing being a feminine job.. Weird, ain't it?

    Slotted buttons in bulk?

No requirement with the vat, but trade suppliers usually want one to sell at trade prices. I'm not going to Glasgow anytime soon to be honest but if you want to act as a proxy that'd be cool. What size and colours did he have?

    Dyeing a dessert DMP smock

Try RIT-dye instead. It dyes poly as well as cotton. A mixed fabric is tugher because of the different chemicals used in the dye bath and to set the bath. But it's better than dylon. Good luck.

    Old sewing machines (pic heavy)

So you mean I have no right to be curious?

    Old sewing machines (pic heavy)

Why not just get a proper industrial machine and be done with it? Seems as a lot of people on here are into sewing machines for sewing machines sake, rather than actual sewing. Which is fine off course. But if you actually are in to sewing, instead of messing about with tens of different...

    Sewing a buttonhole?

There is an japanese made attachment from called ys-40 or something for industrial machines. I have one at home. It only makes straight shirt-type buttonholes and demands a certain fettling around. Usually available new on the auction site.
