It's looking like there is a serious problem with the database that stores all the information in the forum.

Well perhaps if I wasn't so busy working the damn bcuk site I would have more time to investigate the rattle! Don't push it!! :nono: You have been warned.

    Rattling Trangia

An excellent question. The big hook drives me nuts and the windshield always hits the deck! Great stove but lousy stealth equipment! :-D Does anyone know why it's designed this way or is there an extra part that you get only if you're in the Swedish military??

    sleeping bag nesting

I'm a cold sleeper too. I've nested sleeping bags in the past (Vango Ultralights not Snugpacks) and to be honest I don't think it made a jot of difference! I haven't yet found a sleeping bag that keeps me warm! I've got a silk liner too. And a thermarest. I just find that sleeping...

Does your kit shine or attract flies?

The kit I use doesn't shine! I am hopeless at cleaning my kit. There's probably loads of things I'm supposed to do to my knives but I never do. Just a sharpen every now and then (and more often than not that's done on the kitchen steel! :naughty:) I do clothes in Nikwax every so often...

    Chat room offline..

It's been a hard few weeks. I'm very sorry that young Scott is gone. I was quite fond of him actually. It's been a tough decision to ban him that I can tell you wasn't reached easily. We gave him every chance but he hasn't helped himself either with some of the things that he's done and...

    1 for the GPS experts

It looks huge in that picture though. I think that's a handheld computer it's next to in the picture rather than a laptop. It easily fits on the top of my backpack (under the bungees). BTW I like the look of the wrist GPS but I would expect that the buttons would be more fiddly to use...

    1 for the GPS experts

Usually it's hanging on my backpack - it's a solar charger! Very handy, especially for extended trips, lighter than spare batteries too!

    Primeval Programming

So often you hear people saying they want to get back to 'a simple life' ... but bushcraft (or survival or self sufficiency or whatever you call it) is hardly simple. It's certainly not as simple as turning on a tap, flicking a lightswitch, eating a ready meal, etc etc etc. :?: As you said...

    Primeval Programming

An interesting post! I've always said that life has to have a certain amount of 'bite' to it. When I lived on the side of a mountain this meant dealing with floods when the snow melted and then shovelling away all the rocks that came down with it. Chopping wood for my fire if I wanted...
