    fish line strength?

12lb for spinning is fine but for bait I would just go 30lb straight through and not bother with a shockleader. 15lb mainline for that is just going to snap every time you hit a snag and you're not going to be competition casting so 30lb for a 5oz lead will do. I wouldn't bait fish from rocks or...

    Alone in the Wild

I was screaming that at the screen, but of course I imagine it would be easy to forget these things when you're desperate to eat some meat. I assume there would be crayfish, eels or something like that you could trap with the bait too.

    Alone in the Wild

He mentions in the programmes about his training. The two I remember were the story of the guy getting dragged off in his sleeping bag by a bear and the flowers he was eating being very similar to a poisonous one but his training explained the difference.

    Let's Go Shrimping!

Shrimps - sand. Prawns - rocks. If you're going shrimping I'd advise wearing flipflops or even wellies or waders as standing on a weever fish would take the fun out of your day.

    Holiday Sea fishing!!

Get some mackerel feathers (cut it in two if it's around 6 or 7) or a set of hokkais or similar rig and attach a spinner or dexter wedge to the end instead of a weight. That gives you an extra attraction and mackerel on the end if you hit the shoal. Best off rocks or pier into deep water. Use a...

Best way to catch a fish on the beach?

Hi from a new member. As mentioned above, most people start sea fishing with a spinning rod off rocks and piers for mackerel, pollack, etc. Since you have a 12ft rod and want to fish on a beach I would aim at the flatfish species such as flounder and plaice. You will need some bait, preferably...
