Not thought of a hammock? The dd one I have can be used as a bivi bag I the event of no trees available but to be honest once you've tried sleeping off the ground you won't want to go back down!
Another recomendation for the Lowe Alpine sting. The side straps and built in slots allow the carriage of poles, axe , machete and even skis. The addition of the zip on rocket pouches give more capacity and they can be used as a day sack.
I have to have regular "medical emergency training" as part of my ongoing professional development. Many of my work associates just opt for the classroom type training in a normal or regular work environment but given the choice between this or an outdoor based course I opted for the latter...
Yes i've used the silicone brick sealer on canvas tents and old jackets several times. Your right it does take longer for the smell to disperse but your just leaves it pitched for a week or two.
and leave jackets hanging in garage to air as long as possible.
I recently had my old webley eclipse .22 underlever tested and was surprised that it was still coming in @ 11.6 ft/lbs.
Although it has had little use over the last couple years, it must have been pretty close to the limit when I had a new spring fitted four or five years ago!
I like Military Mart and have always found the staff to be helpfull. Sometimes when passing i spend almost an hour in the store just browsing. Its now always my first port of call before looking elsewere.

I take it your talking about The North Face triclimate. I have one of these but at the end of the day triclimate just relates to the ability of the garment to cope with various conditions.
Any fleece/waterproof como does the same thing i.e fleece only waterproof only or cobined for warmth and...
I've done a fair few wild camps in small groups the Lakes but all have been canoe based so obviously next to lakes/rivers.
I tend only to wild camp "off season" i.e between september and April and have never realy been bothered by the wardens but have been prepared to move on if requested to do...
DPM Lowe alpine sting for me too. Took me a while experimenting with different back lengths but easily adjusted.
Takes all my kit and lots of webbing to add additional pockets etc. Great piece of kit.

I have one of these that i use regular on my outings, nice feel to it, holds an edge reasonably well ans qiute easy to sharpen.
Not that far from you Ormskirk and you can spend the...
Nothing wrong with them as first boat to get you on the water and i still have two lend to other family members. They are heavy to car top and carry but once on the water they track (go in a straight line ) fairly well due to the small keel running through. Unfortunately Costco dont seem to be...
I used mine at the wkend with just the slot cut in the bottom. As i have difficulty bending my knees i had the bag pulled down towards the foot end while i got in then i rigged a pulley system which enabled me to pull it under my head and shoulders. Worked a treat and kept me snug. My mate has a...
Well i have just cut the one slot in the center of the foot end and plan on leaving the zip to use as a cocoon or pea pod.
I will have to work out a pull/adjusting cord suspension for the head end as it will have to slid underneath once i am in the hammock. The hood will lay underneath the...
Most of the Tarp set ups above ,with the exception of the last, to me seem the wrong way round.
If it was raining the water would be directed towards the tent doorway rather than away to the sides.
Just my take on it though, others may differ.
