I had a bit of a search around and couldn't find anything that answered my question here.

I am looking at this poncho which is listed as a russian poncho:

the images are pretty rubbish but the price is right.

Not bothered about whether it will work or be effective as yet. It's more a punt and try type deal.

What I did want to know was whether anyone thinks it is indeed a Russian poncho, or maybe it's a Polish?
It appears to have a cape over the shoulders. But I can't be sure.

Any ideas gratefully received!

Plenty of info on the forum - search on Polish Laavu, Polish Army Mini Laavu and similar terms.

plash-palatka tent coat is what you want to search.
they've made these since ww2, they're ok, two make a decent tent.
don't get ripped off by specialist dealers, these things sit in warehouses in russia for years and the right connections get things dirt cheap.
give dmitry a shout over at http://www.soviet-propaganda.com/ if you're after anything from the old soviet bloc.
shipping from st petersberg isn't all that bad either.

Thanks for the Info. This Is a 12quid deal. That a rip off? Honest question.
I like the idea of having a canvas poncho that doubles as a tarp, this one looks like a good deal.
Thanks again.

The Polish ones work out to about £24 a pair including postage, so £12 for one is ok.

It is not really a poncho that doubles as a tarp, rather it doubles as half a conical tent. They are not rectangular in shape but half of an octagon.

It might be the smallest size, I know that there are three different sizes. Endicott's has all three sizes, you could call Kevin for more info (that's Endicott's surplus in Exeter, many positive reviews on here and elsewhere)
