Hello friends :)
At the end of a hard days work...

OK, I'll start from the begining :)

I went to Norway this summer, to work there for a few months and to enjoy a bit of that northen wilderness which was very unknown to me before. One of my first jobs I got was to renovate this house that was built in 1830. And what a house it is!!!! I could not believe in the carpentry jobs done back then! Every joint makes me smile when I think of a time and patience of the builders back then. Amazing stuff but you can't really show that on pics.

So basicly what I have to do is to demolish this front, build it bigger so there would be more space in bathroom, and put a new roof on when we rise up the walls a little, repair any rotten parts and repaint the house :D Not that much at all. Ok, a few more pics on the house:

It's me hewing top beam, where we going to rise the wall about 40cm.

And here with finished beams on the other side:

So that's one of the projects I do in here. Rest is some farm work, fence building and all that... But when I walk down the mountain to a walley where the fjord is that's where magic begins :D

The same farmer I work for owns another house and this house is even older than that and was originally built around 1800:

And that's where I'm intending to move in a few days time. When I came here, I could not beliemy my luck!

That's the livingroom, look at that stove!!! All furniture is from years and years back, reminding of the old times that went buy..

Ahhhh... I shut myself up and put a few more pics, you understand me. :)

It only took me half an hour to land this fish :) Fjord is full of them.

I knocked up a quick fireplace and lit a fire

And that's my dinner, although it would be enough for 4. :) Didn't liked the grill at all, whn fish was done it started to fall in fire, lost about a half..

So far I managed to spend here one night. It's an exausting trip up the mountain to get to my house that I work on. But soon I will go down there for good and I cant wait :)
So that's my little adventure's in Norway so far. I have access to unlimited wood suply, fish supply, maybe wild edibles. There are plenty of clamps and other kind of shells in the seashore so my bushcrafty adventures only begin. Any tips or ideas of what could I do while I'm there would be great from you guys, especially from those who has spent longer periods in wilderness cabins like this. Thanks for lookin, I hope you enjoyed it :)

Andy

Thanks all, I knew you'd like it :) Yeah, as far as I can tell, that's the best work and travel destination ever!:)

Hi m8
It looks lovely, it looks lie you are getting well in to your work and who wouldn't with view like that.
Will you be there over winter?

Reg
Rum

Hi, no, I'm here only for two months, so I'm leaving in early August, there is a plan of cutting down a lot of trees to make some farm land, (there is 800 acres of woodland here on this farm) and that would be done in winter, but it's not for sure yet. Winter would be so much more challanging...

Very cool Andy, how did you manage to get work like that?

Cheers ;) Been in the right place at the right moment and took a chance... My cousin lives here and he smashed his car. I was asked If I could help his father to bring the car home. I agreed although there was not much for me except seeing a bit of Norway for free. I came, saw the house I'm working on right now (my cousin rents it) fell in love :D :D Met the farmer and spoke with him about the house. He told me the history and we spoke that this and that could be done to preserve it. He called me up few months on and offered to work for him this summer :) pure luck

There's a beauty in the simplicity of houses like those that modern homes never achieve :)

You're a lucky man :D in the right place and at the right time  Brilliant way to spend a Summer, thanks for sharing :D

M
