    Recommend me some seed...

I find the best seed supplier on ebay is premier seeds. Other than that seed parade are good and cheap for standard varieties. Chiltern seeds have some really interesting "different" seeds.

    Harvest time

Yeah, sorry. Text is small and bounced on my phone. Mine are fun but it'll take a while before they're useful I reckon.

    Harvest time

Egytian walking onions are different to Welsh onions. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_onion I got them for the first time this year, started with 5, now I've got 31... Next year who knows. Next year it'll be potato onions hopefully...

Van conversions - anyone done one?

Its certainly possible. These folk do it for a living http://m.urbancampers.co.uk/#/COMPACT-CAMPERVANS.html No idea of the hows though.

    Harvest time

Cheers, I'm going to try overwintering this year as i have never managed to be self sufficient in onions. I've got circa 300 red baron (too many going to seed and thus won't store) and sturon which are looking fine but under threat of rust which has jumped from the garlic to the Egyptian...

    Harvest time

Do those overwintering onions store? They have a reputation for not storing well.

    Harvest time

I'd plant runner beans seed again now. They'll fly up. And I reckon the seasons are getting later so you'll be picking through September.

Woods that you love and hate

Poplar. I am lucky to have a number of unworked seasoned planks. They are easy to work and the "green" tinge that runs through them makes for very interesting pieces. Still can't find a use for the amount I have though.

    Rucksack?

I collect driftwood and tie 4ft long up to 35-40kg pieces to my rucksack to carry them off the beach. My rucksack is falling apart and I destroy them in a few trips. Is the Lowe alpine a strong enough sack for this kind of work or do I need to go down another route do you think? Thanks

    Autumn is here

And the Butternut squash are ripening properly. Its been a good year for them. Good job they keep well but the house is going to look like a veg store for the next few months. :-)
