The community support officer is always in the area and often by the beginning of the trail as there are sometimes motorbikes rode down there, she said the police would not be able to do anything as there is no witness ect so i didnt really know what to say to her

Your equipment is covered on tow, on holiday, stored at a recognised Cassoa site (approved by us) and at your home residential address. All security requirements as outlined in the policy wording must be met.

I doubt that they will pay for an insecure rucksack full of kit more than two paces from the owner though.

5. Equipment in premises or areas open to the public and not being used or supervised must be kept in a separate and secure area not accessible by anyone other than the insured, and secured by a five lever lock to British Standard BS3621.

Most of the kit was brand new and i was taking it out to test it... Recieved SS nalgene and platypus today on next day delivery and hopefully will be back out soon thanks to all of you

Go to the station and ask to speak to a supervisory officer i.e. sergeant or Inspector and relate your story,what she said may be true but is not an excuse to not make some investigation or intelligence report.

A community support officer is NOT a Police Constable and has not undertaken the same office of Constable.
Tell the real Police, it is true that a lot of things won't come to much but you do not instill that type of negativity from the beginning.
It is a Constables duty to you to instigate some sort of investigation in a manner that i've mentioned previously.

Tell them at the station that I sent you (retired cop) and you just want it noted for intelligence at least.

I have made a report and said what was in the bag and i gave some photos but nothing has been handed in ect, i left my details just in case but i doubt it will be handed in

What a bummer! Just a thought but is there any way you might be able to claim on your house insurance? Some policies seem to cover kit away from home. Wouldn't hurt to give them a call.

Was stolen in pontypridd on the near the taff trail

I know that area well, I work in the Forestry Commission there so am very familiar with the local "wildlife". PM me and I'll keep my eyes open when I'm out and about. We have a designated "forest cop" and I can report it in our internal record of offences or occurences....never know, it may be useful
