As i was passing through Worcestershire this morning i thought i would make a detour and check out a local Army&Navy store that i had seen on the net,on their website they advertized the afore mentioned rucksack.Having read various recomendation from you learned folks on the LK35s merits i had a look see and bought one myself, its exactly as Gary, the Wiking and others have said, simple, well made and bomb proof by the looks of it,bargain at£9.99 no doubts about it. :)

The shop by the way is ram packed with kit of all types, some good and other stuff knackered and fit for the bin, they are even stocking Gransfor Bucks axes now too.Ive heard about their poor service via post but as i was buying over the counter in person it was no problem.

I have one of these sacks and want to make a small roll for the bottom in a similar sytle to the old 58 pattern bum roll, and have a friend who may add side pockets to it for me!

Question is, does anybody know where I can get the same fabric as the stuff the pack is made from? I've had a look on point north, but the choice is overwhelming and I am only getting a short description of the fabric. I don't want it to look to mad in different shades of green!

Cheers

Spamel,

For £10 I'd be inclined to buy a second one and use it's fabric.

I've been thinking about adding a couple of small pockets to mine so I don't have to open the pack to get a my brew kit etc.

So a second sac woill probably be the route I take.

I've been trying to find somewhere that will ship them to Australia. But the one place I found that would, wanted more than the price of the bag for postage! Guess I'll keep an eye out on ebay.

I can sympathise there wentworth I saw a great bargin bag on an american site $14.95 +$15 minimum postage to the uk. Mind you in rip-off uk this was close to the best uk price I could find. Just goes to show when its cheaper to have a bag shipped from the states that was made in germany and shipped to the states than it is here in the uk.
Dave.

Can anyone tell me if the LK35 will stand-up on its own when placed on the ground, perhaps with a couple of pegs? When it’s raining I chuck my rucksack under the tarp while I’m setting up and it would be so much easier to find gear if I had a rucksack that would stand upright and out of the wet

It will fall over unless you prop it up with a forked stick against the frame. Why not make a simple sling to wrap around a tree trunk and a karabiner on the end to clip it up off the floor? They are great bags, I use mine all the time.

Thanks Spamel,

I usualy attach it to a tree when dry, but the last couple of times i've been out it has been chucking it down so I have had it under the tarp laying on the rain cover, not ideal. I like the idea of the frame for a bit of stability.

Leon, am I right to assume the frame can be removed with the bag full?

Yup, it really is a good pack and you can take the bag off the frame, leaving you with a load carrying frame for fire wood etc.

Edit: You don't have to empty the bag to take it off the frame. It is held on by two loops at the top and two bucles at the bottom, nylon webbing straps and metal buckles all round! Solid!

yes i dont think you will find a bit of flimsy plastic on it, all the buckles and fastners are made of metal

If you really like the LK35 so much, you really should try the LK70. It is (of course) bigger, it has a waistbelt, and three nice pockets. And the frame is much more comfortable. (here it's about £18 issued and £40 new, in cordura)

I would love to get a hold of the larger pack, but they seem a bit hard to come by outside of Sweden.

There is a webshop, (claiming to be international wholesalers) which seem to export the stuff. But their webpage is only partly english (!). But they have a country-option when filling out your address.

(address here for the new one)

I rather fancy the idea of an LK70 and from the site big_swede mentioned at SEK 450.00 = <£35.00 but the postage may be high.

Wish I'd picked up one when Bummblebee did a group buy :(
